To date, over £7 million of this type of funding has been secured, with the majority coming from the New Opportunities Fund, now the Big Lottery Fund. Twenty eight pence of every pound spent on a Lottery ticket goes to good causes and the Fund distributes 50 percent of this.
Macmillan has been awarded grants for projects as diverse as:
-
a befriending scheme for carers
-
a scheme to support voice rehabilitation for patients following surgery for cancer of the larynx (laryngectomy)
-
a new cancer centre providing all cancer services, including palliative care, within a single unit
Macmillan's Lottery & Statutory Funding Team, based at our UK Office, works with Macmillan staff and postholders providing advice and support on applying for and managing grants.
