Share giving

12 million people in the UK own shares, with a combined value of £200 billion. If only a tiny fraction of these were donated to charity, imagine what a difference it could make.

Donating your shares to Macmillan is not only a great way to help people living with cancer, but it could also be a shrewd financial decision - it's one of the most tax-effective ways you can give, as you won't have to pay any capital gains tax on the shares you donate and you can claim income tax relief too.

How do I donate my shares to Macmillan?

1. Print the blank Stock Transfer form and return to Julie Pilgrim at Macmillan (address below). Alternatively, you can contact Julie on 020 7840 4604, who will be happy to supply a stock transfer form and a self addressed envelope.

You can also obtain a form from the Registrar who acts for the company in which you have shares. The name of the Registrar will be written at the bottom of your share certificate.

Please ensure you read the form and all the notes carefully.

2. On the stock transfer form, in the box entitled 'Full name and postal address of the person to whom the security is transferred', please write:

Macmillan Cancer Support

3. Complete, sign and date the form as appropriate. Please send the completed form, together with the share certificate to:

Julie Pilgrim
