Longest Day Golf Challenge 2008

Many thanks to all the teams that took on the Longest Day Golf Challenge 2008 and for all your fundraising efforts. More than 250 teams took part all across the UK and as far afield as Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.

Currently we have received over £300,000 in sponsorship, which will be used by Macmillan to help people living with cancer in the UK.

All the teams who reached the finals played fantastic golf and raised a lot of sponsorship money for Macmillan.

The finals results were:

1. Marine Harvest Scotland

2. Roaring Forties

3. 4 Just Men

4. VJ Steve's

'The Unusual Suspects' were selected at random out of all teams that had paid in at least £1000 by 12 September 2008 to win a day at Wentworth Golf Club with Nick Dougherty. They will receive a personal golf clinic with Nick and then 9 holes with him on the prestigious course.

We would like to thank all teams for their donations, however large or small and will be sending out certificates to all team captains when all sponsorship money has been banked.

Look out for more information on next year's challenge in early 2009, including the chance to win more money-can't-buy golfing experiences.

Happy golfing!

'Taking part in the Longest Day Golf Challenge was a fantastic experience, producing memories for myself, Lee and Andy that will last a lifetime. To raise money for such an important cause while we were having fun – exhausting fun – made it all the more worthwhile.'

Prizes and finals

Fantastic prizes are up for grabs if you make it to the finals.
Every day 780 people in the UK are told they have cancer. Macmillan wants to be there to reach every one of them, and their families and friends. By swinging into action and getting your team to take up the ultimate golf challenge, you will put us on course to reach this ambition.

Remember, every penny you raise will help provide practical, emotional and financial support.
