Schools and youth groups
We know it’s important that young people have access to information about cancer. By giving them information they want and need, we can help make sure they are able to cope when it affects them – whether they are diagnosed themselves, or if a friend or family member gets cancer.
Young people
Our Why bother? website has answers to many questions young people may have about cancer and how Macmillan can support you.
You can view Flash animations demystifying cancer or listen to audio clips of young people talking about their experiences of cancer. We also have a cancer facts quiz and a message board for you to talk about your experiences or questions with other young people.
Teachers
Teachers can visit our Cancertalk website and download our free Cancertalk teaching resources for primary and secondary schools that are linked to the National Curriculum. You can also find other information and advice on how to talk about cancer in the school community, including real-life experiences of teachers, health professionals, young people and parents.
You can also find details of how your school or youth group can take part in Cancertalk Week and help raise awareness of cancer amongst children and young people.
Fundraising
There are lots of ways your school can get involved in fundraising for Macmillan. The Why Bother? and Cancertalk websites have lots of fundraising tips and advice.
