How to join a cancer support group

Joining a cancer support group is a great opportunity to talk to other people affected by cancer. There are all sorts of different groups for you to choose from, so you just need to find the right one for you.

How to find a cancer support group:

  • Contact your Regional Development Co-ordinator from the list below
  • Find out if there is a national organisation for your specific cancer, listed in the front of our directory. Or go to www.be.macmillan.org.uk for a paper copy
  • Ask your GP if they know of a group, or they may know of some people who want to start one
  • Ask the cancer specialist nurse at the hospital if they know of any
  • Start your own cancer support group - if there isn't a group nearby and you'd like to start up your own, contact a Development Co-ordinator for advice, information, support, training and how to apply for some start-up funding
